Dec 06, 2005 · I'm looking at the 2001 ASTM for A36. The term modified doesn't appear in any description of the properties of the material. My guess would be that it refers to invoking one of the "Supplemental" Requirements. One is a Charpy requirement and the other is a limitation on rimmed or capped steel.

ASTM A36 Mild Steel - SAE AISI 1010 1015 1020 1025 1045 ASTM A36 Standard Specification for Carbon Structural Steel covers carbon structural steel shapes, plates, and bars of structural quality for use in riveted, bolted, or welded construction of bridges and buildings, and for general structural purposes. Heat analysis shall be used to determine the required chemical composition for carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, and copper.
ASTM A366 ASTM A1008 Steel - Stainless Steel TubeIt has a very good surface finish that is far superior to hot rolled A36. 1008 Steel is an economical, general purpose steel grade offering moderate strength and toughness. As a standard grade, 1008 steel is used in many common, low-stress applications. The term steel refers to iron in which 0.02 to 1.7% carbon has been added.

Grade Guide:A36 Steel Metal Supermarkets - Steel Nov 14, 2017 · A36 is a low carbon steel. Low carbon steels are classified by having less than 0.3% carbon by weight. This allows A36 steel to be easily machined, welded, and formed, making it extremely useful as a general-purpose steel. The low carbon also prevents heat treatment from having much of an effect on A36 steel. A36 steel usually has small amounts

Mechanical Properties of Structural Steelsstrain-rate properties for selected perimeter and core column steels include yield and tensile strength, total elongation and strain rate sensitivity for rates up to 400 s-1. Measured properties were consistent with literature reports on other structural steels. Impact properties were evaluated with Charpy testing.

This steel name has been discarded and replaced by S235JR in EN 10025-2:2004. S235JRG2C+C, S235JRG2 Meaning S is short for Structural Steel; 235 refers to the minimum yield strength value (MPa) for the steel thickness 16mm; JR means the impact energy value 27 J at room temperature. G2 is a subdivided quality grade.
